In western medicine acupuncture has been shown to be effective in the treatment of back pain, recently endorsed be NICE (national institute for clinical excellence), as well as other conditions such as arthritis. It is also widely used in fertility treatment.

In the east it is widely used to maintain general wellbeing and to treat physical, emotional and mental complaints. Using traditional 5 element theory, acupuncture will be a great addition to the services already offered by the Ashcroft Clinic.

Massage therapy started in the clinic in April ’09 and is proving to be very popular.

There are many benefits to regular massage:

Treatment sessions last for 30 or 60 minutes.  

All of our staff are part of a team and as such are able to ask advice and refer to any other clinician in the clinic. If necessary an Orthopaedic assessment can be arranged in the clinic.  

Our clinicians can also refer patients for investigation by ultrasound, MRI scan and X-ray. All imaging is reported on by a consultant Radiologist. Ultrasound guided injection can be performed in the clinic if required.  

Some medical problems may be difficult to come to terms with and it can be beneficial to talk to someone about such issues. The clinic can organise for assessment and treatment with a clinical psychologist.
